With upcoming initiatives such as the Cloud and AI Development Act and the Strategic Roadmap for Digitalisation and AI for the Energy Sector, the EU is working to balance the growth of the digital economy with the urgent need for clean energy – an effort that AI can help accelerate.

As cloud computing, AI and digital services continue to transform industries, their expanding energy needs underscore the importance of accelerating clean energy deployment and grid modernisation. At the same time, AI offers powerful solutions by boosting energy efficiency, integrating renewable energy sources, and optimising energy networks. This roundtable brings together EU policymakers, energy market leaders and data centre operators to explore how Europe can scale its data centre infrastructure — powered by clean energy and a high level of energy efficiency — through stronger grid access, greater renewables integration and AI-enabled optimisation.

This event will feature two focused sessions. The first, ‘Securing Competitive, Sustainable and Resilient Power for Europe’s AI Ambitions’, will be followed by a second panel, ‘How Digital Infrastructure Strengthens Europe’s Energy System’.

The discussion will be held under Chatham House Rules. Panels will be composed of representatives from the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament and industry leaders, followed by an open Q&A.
